Process in Illustration and After Effect
Our task was to create a character on illustrator with body parts on each separate layers. This way the the movement in the animation could take more effect. I separated eyes,eye ball, arms and legs from the body. I did not design much detail on the face because i did not want to go over the specific number of layers we were asked to have. I designed this character in ten minutes, i took longer on the eye layers because i wanted it to bring them full effect by moving them around the eye as if his eyes rolling his eyes.
I imported my illustration file into After Effect, making sure i selected retain layers in order for the file to work in good manners. I changed the composition size to 1920 px and 1080 px as expected because the composition file i used on illustrator was the same size. If i had not done so the work could of became blurry due to its big size.
I used layer transforms on all separate layers except one which was the right leg. I made my character dance, i used mainly 'Position' from transform to animate this. I used scale and a bit of position for the text, i thought the background was too bland for groovy character. 'Move on up!' from a classic music and 'Vamos Viver' means let's live in my language portuguese. It was my first attempt in doing anything related to animation on Adobe, i hope we can do more tasks relating to animation because i had fun designing. However despite it looking so simple, I like my outcome which is motivating me in using more After Effect on this specific subject.
