After effect

Working with Kinetic Typography on After Effect

I will learn how to make my work move quite quickly using typography on After Effect. We will be planning things, what we should remove in order to make it move smoothly with no problem. We will also be using a copy write soundtrack in our work, i chose my soundtrack before hand. These soundtracks have to be 10 second long, so they can end around the same time the kinetic typography video ends. I edited this out on After effect whilst we was importing our other work.

We needed a transcript and split them into three parts and this represents the three scenes.  We are basically making a storyboard. I used motivation quotes for my transcript I found online, i used this because it went well with my soundtrack. We transported everything on illustrator, when it comes to using after effect it will be easy to achieve the way we want to lay out our work. I learned that when i am working for screen i should always work with RGB and everything to do with printing is CMYK. We used illustrator to basically make my transcript text look appealing. I clicked on Illustrators document mode and made a  new file, made sure the file size were 1920 x 1080. when it came to making the green background it had to be the same size as the file. How did i get three art boards? I pressed ALT key and dragged the background on each side of the main art board. That is when i copy and pasted my transcript on each background, the minimum size for the text were at least 50 pt.
We have the same options that we had in illustrator for text. We are recreating what we did in illustrator onto after effect. I copied and pasted the text we used in Illustrator, so they will be in the same position I had laid them out before on after effect.  I clicked on one of the guides called Title/safe, which helped me in keeping the text in the rectangle box.  I could not find a way to copy the rectangle box into the after affect,  so I went on layers and created a Solid for the background; for each text layer I duplicated the solid because I want it to continuously flow through the video.

We moved on into animation and positioning so it could look like the words you have chosen is moving.  I used rotation for animation, in the beginning it look as if the whole text is upside down and then it slowly starts rotating back to be readable. I chose to position it like this because I wanted to keep my viewers waiting; it shows they are curious to see what the last quote is. I really liked this lesson, it reminded me of when we had to make out characters move. I never thought after effect was going to be useful for me in the future but after these lessons i find myself enjoying them.
