Seminar week 8: Propaganda

i-D Magazine

Ian Isiah, Daniel Phanntom and Ozboarn Manson by Matthew Stone i-D magazine, styled by Akeen Smith and clothes designed by Shayne Oliver. This magazine is challenging the stereotypes that have been constantly weighing us down. Shayne Oliver designed these clothes for these men because he wanted to know what makes a man a man, he quoted reason on the magazine page "I wanted to explore the basic necessities of contemporary man. What makes him run? What validates him? What makes him feel like a man?".I feel that this page questions the public in general what exactly makes a man, a man and his clothes which are designed in a feminine sense worn by the men is his respond to his own question. Clothes do not define you as man and it also does not define your sexuality. While some may agree, others may still say 'That is not a man!' and this makes me disagree with them because i feel that despite of them wearing this type of clothes, they will always be men because physically they are men. I do not think there is an accurate definition to what makes a woman or man, society has stereotyped us in the way we need to act and be for a very long time, but it has always not been this way.
