Process and Production ~ Physical Studio
Creating narrative story/article based on ideas from newspapers and magazines.

Story writing

For today’s class I had to bring two news papers that cost me £0.90 each, which is a lot for just news paper and I also brought scissors, pen and A4 line paper. We got told we will need it today for the module TFD 1412 Process and production in physical studio. We got given our first task called ‘Creative narrative and copy’. For this task I had to produce short story/article based on the ideas from newspaper or magazines in 20 minutes; I cut out the stories I found interesting and funny because that way it was much easier for me to try work with the story. The headlines of the stories I found were called 'Child ghost terror',‘Fury of the Transgender Thug’, ‘Caver finally rescued','Hundreds of chickens killed'and 'Giant spiders put willies up Balotelli'.

At first when we was explained about the task I honestly was very puzzled, I kept wondering why we need to put together stories we find or put us in these stories, what did it have to do with graphic design? Then I figured out the answer at the end of their talk, the fun part for a graphic designer would be designing the layout and mood board. I am very much excited about the mood board!

I chose ‘Fury of the Transgender Thug’ story because this story is unique and far more interesting than the others I found. It took me 40 minutes to write up our first draft of the story on my line paper, the draft story only took up 1 page and half of my A4 line paper, I personally think it was too short because when we have to print my story at a range of point sizes and leading for example 10pt, it will most likely only be a page and a half. So I should work on more events and evaluate my story properly. I like my story so far, I came up with 4 more characters in the past 40 minutes which is good for my mood board, I think having only one character could make my mood board look monotonous.
