aniggainrio:

After a 20-minute flight over the city of New York, Stephen Wiltshire, diagnosed with autism, draws the whole town with only his memory.
Stephen Wiltshire is an artist who has been diagnosed with autism, but despite this he can still draw detailed cityscapes. He became fascinated with landmark London buildings and started sketching it when he was seven years old.  Now at first I was thinking what the big deal is?! There are other people diagnosed with autism that are artists but I went deeper into researching his work because I wanted to find out what had everyone talking about Stephen Wiltshire. That is when I found out that he drew this whole cityscape from his memory! Stephen Wiltshire was on a 20 minute flight over New York City and he managed to remember what he saw. I found it amazing and inspirational. I have only been taking photographs of what I came across the city during my primary research but after I came across Stephen's work I feel like I could try and approach my primary research differently e.g. quick sketches or going to museum checking out Huddersfield history for interesting stories.  It made me want to get more into depth in researching for my city of flux project!
