Contextual Portfolio
Practicing more in Illustration

My Board game design

I must confess this is only my second year doing anything relating to graphic design. The first time was in my foundation degree in Leeds College of Art, we were surrounded by mac computers and we had a pretty much excellent facilities like screen printing and because of this on my second term i leaning away from fine art towards graphic design. I only ever used Photoshop whenever i would create something, so i never used Illustrator or Indesign as we are doing this year for university. In my process and production class we illustrated Maryln Manroe by ourselves but with the guide from our teacher Steven. This class made me more curious to try out my new techniques i learned. My brother Luis Patrick De Vasco who is an excellent graphic designer told me to practice first with something simple like a board game.

Experimentation

Outcome

I was extremely pleased with my outcome, it took about 2 days to complete the whole thing because i was inexperienced with illustrator at the time.

Below is my board game instruction design which was made in Photoshop. Initially i drew the girl first with a black marker before scanning it in to Photoshop.

My game board was inspired by my favorite animation called One Piece, the concept is adventure and action.
