Indesign

I am glad that indesign was taught to us before the end of the year. This is because i wish to use it to present electronic sketch book effectively.

What is InDesign? InDesign is a page make up package, like leaflet, a book, it could be anything with multiple pages. You use InDesign right after you have used Photoshop to edit an image, preferably you can use many type.

What we are going to produce is a newsletter. We are going to use four tools, selection tool, down section tool, text tool and line tools like drawing tools.

In the beginning of the lesson we had to open a new document and put in new information in the area we needed to change, instead of cm we changed it to mm. After doing this we got this new document in three columns just like you see above.

Everything needs to go to the bleeds line,  Bleed line is very important to graphic designers because when it comes to cutting it doesn’t not go wrong. We used the indesign ruller on the top and dragged it to 289 mm. Using the Text type is ensential in indesign and that is what we used to number our page, I dragged in text and typed in ‘page’ and then went onto type on the top of Indeisgn, I inserted special characters, masters marker page number which then inserted an A on the text type. We placed the type on the bottom of the page, what you see in the usual books.

The next thing we needed to do a line to divide the columns. We need to place some more rule guides. Such as horizontal and Vertical Guides. Guides are basically the rules we use in the Indesign to help us measure our work properly.I learned new skills as auto flow in a new file document, which is all the texts are inked on one page.  I composition it in many different styles as I have seen many times in a real article. By clicking on the Red Cross you could drag the text towards the next column. Hold down ALT key to duplicate the texts and then your can drag many text in many different places. We used a new document to practice before we used it in our saved DTP document.

As a result of my learning my saved document started to come alive an actually looking like a realistic Article.
