After Effects

Final After Affect class

Title sequence working in 3D space

Today was our final after affect class. For our final class, we were going to experiment on after affect with 3D space, it could go very nicely with openings. We watched some example clips, i found
'Where did the night go' Seffen K on Vimeo and i thought that this video clip showed excellent quality but its about the rhythm in his work connecting with the sound. We are going to be doing our own clip, in our own style in terms and context. It could be a title, a word, it could be something relating to your work or just a short ten second animation. I chose to do a word.

We needed to prepare an artwork board, a HD document set up in illustrator. Each of the object needs to be contained and not out of the marge board. You need at least 10 layers, If you use text or object then make sure they all each need to be saved in separate layers. We are doing it all completely in our own style or an inspiration I liked.

I imported the illustrator experimentation into after affect, then selected composition retain layer sizes  because pressing 'ok' and the effect of that is Each of those subjects will be on the separate the files. Also make sure that illustrator /pdf is unselected. After importing my work, I move on to adjusting the settings of the composition to 1920 px and 1080 px, so it also matches the composition size I previously had on illustrator.  The 3D layer had to be selected for each layer; it allows manipulation in 3 dimensions. Then I moved on to playing around with Y Rotation, position and scale.

Texture to the background could enhance the work quality. I made sure it was copywrite and I went for cloud texture because I feel like it can relate to the word life. The texture i selected was from a website called texture and you could download the images for free. This was imported in to my work.
I selected layer option on the top left and click on Pre compose, then I selected the first option with also ‘new composition’ included, this created a new composition with the specific layer I selected. I then dropped the texture to the new composition as a layer and the texture needs to always be in the background while the object is on top. Toggle switches and modes, Alpha matt overlays the texture over my object, taking the objects shape. The effect of this new composition builds up the layers. One of the last techniques we learned is how to add on layer styles. I added on a drop shadow to 'I' and 'E' and an outer glow  on my cloud triangle.

In the end i changed my background colour into more uplifting mood. I was happy with my outcome, it turned out better than my other after affects clips, i think it may because i found this task more interesting, i learned different ways to enhance my work on after effect.
